Add and edit study plans
Updated 19 Feb 2024
A MyLab IT study plan consists of one or more tests and training, which students complete in the order you define when you create the study plan.
In the Course Materials Library and the My Course lists, an icon with a box and pencil appears left of the study plan name.
Study plans consist of two or three of the following components:
- Pre-test
- Training
- Post-Test
- To facilitate the process for creating a study plan, organize your training material and questions in the same folder.
- Pearson creates one or more study plans for each chapter of the course. Study plans provided by Pearson all use the pre-test > training > post-test format. Use Pearson-created study plans when possible.
Create study plans
- Go to the Course Materials > Add from Library page.
- Click Add Course Materials
- Select Add myitlab Study Plan.
-
Enter a name and optional description for the study plan.
-
Enter an estimated amount of time it will take students to complete the study plan.
-
Select the combination of components you want to include in the study plan:
-
Pre-Test > Training > Post-Test: Students can take pre-tests multiple times. If a student does not meet the passing score for the pre-test, the student must complete 100% of the training material before proceeding to the post-test. If the student meets the passing score for the pre-test, the training is optional; in other words, the student can review the material or proceed directly to the post-test. As the last step in the study plan, the student takes the post-test. Depending on how you set up the study plan, students may also be able to view the training material after they take the post-test. Students must meet the passing criteria for the post-test to complete the study plan.
-
Pre-Test > Training: Students can take the pre-test multiple times. If a student does not meet the passing score for the pre-test, the student must complete 100% of the training material. If the student meets the passing score for the pre-test, the training is optional. Students must complete 100% of the training material to complete and pass the study plan.
-
Training > Post-Test: Students must get 100% on the pre-test training before proceeding to the post-test. The post-test has a specified number of attempts (3 by default). Students must meet the passing criteria for the post-test to complete the study plan.

Editing study plans is strongly discouraged. The components of a Pearson-provided study plan are intricately tied together so editing any of them may disrupt these connections.
