Answer questions

Your activities can contain a variety of question types, each of which requires you to perform a certain action to answer the question.

Question Type Description

Auto-graded Essay (Feedback)

Auto-graded essay questions with feedback are essay questions in which your response is automatically graded, rather than being graded manually by your instructor, and for which feedback on your writing can be provided at either the paragraph level, or for your essay as a whole.

To complete an auto-graded essay question, you enter your response and submit it for grading.

Remember to click Submit for grading after viewing your feedback.

Essay

Essay questions require written responses, which can vary in length and require instructor review.

  • Use the character palette to insert special characters in the answer box.
  • Click the Format text button to format your answer as you type.
    • Select the Text/HTML code view option to type or edit your answer. In this view you can see any HTML tags you inserted using the Format text button, and you can insert HTML tags manually.
    • Select the Formatted text view option to preview your formatted answer. You cannot make any edits in this view.

File Upload

File Upload questions are assignments where you have to upload a file for instructor review.

  1. Answer the question using the appropriate software application and save the files.
  2. From your question, click Browse to select the saved files.
  3. Click Add to add the answer files.

The files cannot exceed a maximum of 4MB. To remove a file click the file name and click Remove.

Matching

Matching involves pairing a set of questions with their correct answers. You select the correct answer from the list.

Multiple Choice

Multiple choice questions show one question with multiple possible answers (choices), including the correct answer and several incorrect answers.

Click the appropriate radio button to choose the answer. You cannot select more than one choice.

True/False True/False questions present a statement, and prompt you to choose whether the statement is true or false, right or wrong, correct or incorrect, and so on.
