Notebook
Use Notebook to create notes for each project.
To create or use a notebook, open the project, then select Notebook.
Use Outline to build a project's structure and capture research with Note Clipper.
As the project grows, create groups of notes to better organize it.
- The mobile version of Notebook has a subset of the functionality available in desktop.
- Notes are synced between your mobile and desktop devices.
- You can edit a note's title (25-character limit), add existing sources, image, audio, or video files, edit the text description, and change note colors.
- Select Projects and then select the name of the project that you want to work on.
- On the Project page, select Notebook.
- To manage your notes more efficiently, Flexible View lets you move notes anywhere on the Notebook page while Grid View arranges notes in rows.
- If you have a lot of notes, you can organize similar ones into groups. To set up and use groups, you must be in Grid View.
- Select Projects and then select the project you want to work on.
- Desktop: Select Notebook and then New Note.
Mobile: Select Notebook and then tap +.
- Enter the note's title (25-character limit).
If you created project sources and want to associate one with this note, choose Select Source and pick one.
- To attach a file of 10MB or less to this note, navigate to the file and select it. File types supported are bmp, doc, docx, flz, gif, html, jpg, jpeg, mov, mp3, mw, mws, pdf, png, ppt, pptx, sit, sitx, swf, tif, txt, xls, xlsx, zip.
- Desktop only: To add this note to the Outline, check the Add to Outline box.
- Notes are blue by default. If you want to change the note's color, select another color option.
- Select Save.
The note now appears on the main Notebook page.
Desktop only:
- Use the navigation window in the bottom right corner to view different notes.
- Drag and drop to rearrange notes.
Add notes directly from your browser to the Notebook with Note Clipper.
- Select Projects and then select the project you want to work on.
- Select Notebook and then select Note Clipper at the top. Follow the instructions in the window.
- As you browse, highlight text or multimedia and select Note Clipper in the bookmarks bar to save items as attachments to your notebook.
- Select Projects, then select the project you want to work on.
The number of notes in this project is listed at the top of the Notebook section.
- Select Notebook. To edit a note or group of notes, double-click a note or a group of notes, then select Edit.
- Make changes and select Save.
- To delete the note, select Delete at the top.
If you are working within a group of notes, double-click to open the group and then select the note that you want to edit.
Organize notes by group
Put your notes into groups to better organize information as you do your research.
- Select Projects, select the project you want to work on, and then select Notebook.
- Select Grid View.
- To group notes, select and drag one note on top of another, then select OK.
- Enter up to 25 characters for the group title, then select OK.
- To add more existing notes to this group, drag and drop them onto the group.
- Edit the group title by double-clicking it and selecting Edit.
- Each group must be between 2 and 20 notes.
- To add a group of notes to the Outline, drag and drop the group into the Outline section.
- Select Projects, then select the project you want to work on.
- Select Notebook, and double-click a group.
- Desktop: In the Group window, select New Note, fill in the fields, and then select Create to add this note to the group.
Mobile: To add a note to a group, tap +, fill in the fields, and then tap Save Note.
- To remove a note from a group, select the group, drag the note out of the group window onto the Notebook page, then select OK.
- To delete a group but retain individual notes, select the group, select Ungroup All , then OK.
