Define list answers

Updated 28 Aug 2023

Answers that require a list of values are needed when you want the student to provide all the correct answers to a particular question.

For example, if you ask students to find all the factors of 6, you want them to enter 1, 2, 3, and 6 as answers. When answering this type of problem, students must separate each answer with a comma, so they would enter the answer to this problem by typing: 1, 2, 3, 6.

In general, the order in which a student lists answers does not matter. Use a text answer to create a question where the order of the answers matters.

To define a list of required answers:

  1. Go to the Define Answers step.
  2. In the Value table, enter each value in a separate row.
  3. Select the All solutions listed above are required for the correct answer option.

Add instructions in the answer area of the question so students know how to enter their answers. For example, you might add "Use a comma to separate your answers."
