Example: Use a table in an econ question

To create and format a table in a short answer question:
Create the question with a simple, unformatted table.
- Open the Custom Question Builder.
- Select Start with an empty template and click Next.
- Select the format Full and click Next.
- In the Custom Question Builder, enter the following in the problem statement area:
The following table shows the distribution of income in France:
- Press Enter twice to move to a new line
- Click the table icon () to open the Insert Table window
- Specify 2 columns and 6 rows and click OK to insert the table into your question.
- Enter the following information in the table.
- Highlight Households and Income (percentage) and click the bold icon ().
- On a new line, enter the following text to begin the question:
What percentage of national income is earned by the poorest 40% of households?
- Add one space after the text you entered and then click Short Answer.
- Go to Step 2 in the Edit Answer Definition window.
- Click in the row under Value in the table and enter

. - Click Next until you reach the last step, then click Save.
- To center the table, position your cursor to the right of the table.
- Click the Align Center icon in the toolbar.
- Click Preview Exercise to see how your question looks for your students.
- When you are satisfied with your question, dismiss the Preview window and click Save.
