Use preloaded courses
Preloaded courses come with already created assignments, including media assignments. In some courses, assignment tags are pre-applied to assignments.
Assignments in preloaded courses may be:
- Preassigned - assignment dates are evenly distributed between the start and end dates of your course.
- Prebuilt - assignments have no due dates or are not available to students until you assign them.
Even when they are unassigned, prebuilt assignments appear in your gradebook and affect student score calculations. You can omit unassigned assignments from overall score calculations.
- A combination of both.
You can edit the availability of assignments, specify due dates, and control how preloaded assignments interact with assignments that you create manually. However, you cannot change assignments dates or course coverage after assignments have results.
When you remove chapters, sections, or objectives from your course, the corresponding preloaded questions or assignments are removed.
If your course has automatically distributed due dates:
- If you adjust course start or end dates, assignments automatically redistribute between the new dates.
- If you adjust start or end dates for all assignments, they are redistributed evenly between the new start and end dates.
- If you remove one or more preloaded assignments, the remaining assignments are redistributed across the course duration.
You can use preloaded courses as coordinator courses in course groups or copy preloaded courses to use as templates for other courses. When you copy a preloaded course:
- All assignments and assignments dates are transferred to the copied course.
- Questions that were scored as correct or removed in the original course are not scored as correct or removed from the copied course.
- Manually created assignments are transferred to the copied course.
- All assignment tags are transferred to the copied courses.
In course groups:
- You cannot edit the availability of assignments inherited from the coordinator course.
- When you copy a preloaded member course, it becomes a standard course and assignments are no longer redistributed when you change coverage or remove assignments.
