Use the Assignment Manager

• Create an assignment — Add a homework, quiz, or test.
• Create a Freehand Grader assignment — If available in your course, create an assignment, upload it as a PDF, identify questions by "dropping a pin," and assign point values. Students upload PDFs of their work that you grade online. Currently available in most courses.
• Create an adaptive diagnostic — If available in your course, add an adaptive diagnostic test to determine students' proficiency in selected topics.
• Create an office grader assignment — If available in your course, add auto-graded office assignments.
• Create an office simulation assignment — If available in your course, add office simulations to mimic real life experiences for students.
• Create an offline item — Assign offline work, such as class participation or special projects.
• Create a writing assignment — If available in your course, create an assignment using Writing Solutions.
• Create a MediaShare assignment — If available in your course, add assignments that allow students to interact with media items, for example, by taking video quizzes, commenting on media content, and uploading and sharing their own media content.
• Create a GeoGebra assignment — If available in your course, add assignments with interactive questions for geometry, algebra, spreadsheets, graphing, statistics, and calculus.
• Import from another course or a previous edition of your textbook.
• Import pre-built assignments — Assign multiple sample assignments and optionally set dates automatically. This option does not display when your course has no sample assignments.
• Create questions — Open the Custom Question Manager, where you can create your own questions to add to assignments in the MyLab Player.

• Edit dates and status — Change multiple assignment dates and assign or unassign them.
• Adjust student settings — Change assignment settings for one or more individual students. This option is not available in coordinator courses.
• Bulk edit assignment settings — Apply settings to multiple assignments at one time.
• Set prerequisites — Assign prerequisite assignments.
• Add tags — Create, add, and apply tags to your assignments.
• Delete assignments — Remove multiple assignments.
• Set sample test availability — Select sample tests and quizzes.
• Manage custom questions — Create and edit custom questions.
• Respondus Monitor Proctoring Dashboard — Review student work on tests and quizzes with automated proctoring. This application is not available in all courses.

• Enter a term in the Search field to find specific assignments by name. Select the X in the field to clear the search results.
• Select to filter the list of assignments by chapter(s), due date range, one or more Gradebook categories, assigned status, or tags. Select Apply to filter the assignments. Select the X next to a filter to clear it or Clear filters to remove all filtering:

  

You can combine the Search and Filter criteria.

Select the 3-dot Options menu for an assignment name to access its options. Options do not display when they don't apply to the assignment or you don't have permission to use them:

• Change scores — For offline assignments, enter or change scores.
• Edit — Change assignment settings, such as the name, content, and personalization options.
• Copy — Copy the assignment. Use the wizard to configure your copy of the assignment and save it. If you copy a test or quiz with a question automatically scored as correct or removed, you can include the question in the copied assignment. For the new assignment creation experience, configure your assignment on the My Selections page.
• Delete — Remove the assignment when it does not have results.

  Use the Unassign toggle to hide an assignment but retain the results.

• Assignment settings — Change assignment names and manage import and partial credit options for multiple assignments at one time.
• Student settings — Change assignment settings for individual students. (This option is not available in coordinator courses.)
• Edit Study Plan — Change the coverage and mastery requirements for the companion Study Plan required as a prerequisite for a test or quiz.
• Question details — See the question numbers, objectives, coverage, and number of points for the questions in the assignment.
• Preview — Open the assignment in the player.

  To preview, add, remove, or edit questions in the assignment before students have worked on it, choose Edit, open step 2 of the Create/Edit Assignment wizard, and select the question IDs to preview and edit the questions.

• Print — Print the assignment. For example, print a test for students to take offline.
• Remove Questions or Replace questions — Remove or replace questions after students have worked on the assignment. Students get full credit for the removed or replaced question.

  These options do not display when no student has worked on the assignment. Choose Edit to remove or replace questions from an assignment with no results.

• Additional settings — Specify parameters for interactive media assignments (for example, Mini Sims) or questions with additional settings.
• Run — In an economics course, set up an experiment, run it, and view its results.
• Learning Catalytics — Open Learning Catalytics if available in your course.

1. Locate the assignment.
2. In the list view, use the Assigned toggle to assign or unassign an assignment.
3. In the calendar view, select an assignment card on the left to show its details and use the Assigned toggle to assign or unassign it.

   

When you unassign, students don't see the assignment but any results are preserved.

You cannot change assignment status of offline items or Learning Catalytics assignments.

In the list view, assignments show in a table in the order that students see them.

Use to change the order of assignments in the Assignment Manager and in student assignment lists.

Select a due date to change the date and time when the assignment is due:

You cannot change the due dates of offline items, Learning Catalytics assignments, or writing assignments.

Use the toggle to change the assigned status for an assignment or select the 3-dot Options menu to manage the assignment.

In the calendar view, assignments show as cards on the left and display in a monthly calendar on their due dates.

Select an assignment in the list on the left to show its details and change the assigned status.

To manage due dates using drag-and-drop, use the carets above the calendar to navigate to the month when you want to change the date:

• Assign a due date by dragging an assignment from the list onto the calendar.
• Remove the due date by dragging an assignment from the calendar to the list.
• Change the assignment due date by dragging an assignment from one date on the calendar to another.

Select Today to return to the current month.

When you change assignment due dates, the due time remains the same.

You cannot drag to change the due dates of offline items, Learning Catalytics assignments, or writing assignments.
