MediaShare assignments
Updated 08 Sep 2023
Some courses include MediaShare assignments that allow your instructor, classmates, and you to upload and share videos and other media content. Your instructor can also create video quizzes with questions posed throughout a video.
To take a video quiz, you watch a video and answer questions that appear throughout.
- Select the MediaShare video quiz from your assignments and select the play button. The video stops at various points and a multiple choice question displays.
- Select an answer and select Next. The video continues and stops again for each question.
- If necessary, select the left arrow button above any question to return to and update previous questions.
- Select Submit. Your quiz results display. You cannot return to the quiz and update answers after you submit.
- Select Done. You can continue to watch or rewatch the video, but you cannot return to the quiz and update answers after you submit.
A MediaShare multimedia assignment contains media content uploaded by your instructor, you, or your classmates. Depending on how your instructor sets up the assignment, you might need to work in a group or submit peer reviews.
To complete a multimedia assignment:
- Select the MediaShare multimedia assignment from your assignments.
- Check to see whether your instructor has created the assignment as a group work assignment, in which case, your group members are displayed next to the Group Work heading.
If the assignment requires group work, coordinate with your group members to determine who will submit the assignment—only one member can submit a Group Work assignment. After any member submits the assignment, it cannot be resubmitted.
- Select an item in the Student tasks list. Items include:
- Watch this video: Select the play button to view the video.
- View this link: Select the link to view the web content.
- Add a video: Upload a video (of format webm, qt, mxf, mpeg, mp4, mov, flv, f4v, avi, asf, or wmv), record a video, or add a YouTube link.
- Add an audio: Upload an audiofile (of format flv, asf, wmv, qt, mov, mpg, avi, mp3, wav, mp4, wma, 3gp, or vob). Maximum file size is 500MB.
- Add an image: Upload an image (of format jpg, jpeg, png, or gif). Maximum file size is 8MB.
- Add a document: Upload a document (of format ppt, pptx, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, or pdf). Maximum file size is 8MB.
- Review peers: Submit reviews for peers who have completed the assignment. Select a peer, access their work, then select ratings for each rubric category (one to four stars). Review the displayed criteria to determine the rating. Optionally, select Add comment to enter written feedback. Select Submit review.
- If your instructor has enabled comments, enter feedback in the Comment box and click Post.
You can see other students' comments and they can see your comments.
- To comment on a video, stop the video, enter a comment, and select Sync to video.
The comment displays the time in the video at which you entered the comment.
After you submit a MediaShare assignment, your Results page shows the score as incomplete until your instructor grades your work. After your instructor grades the assignment, you can see your score and review their comments from your Results page. For your multimedia assignments, select Review to see the assignment again, including comments.
