Add or delete assessment questions
Updated 10 Oct 2023
You can add your own questions to an assessment, or can add questions from a question bank included with your course. Both options are available for any unassigned assessment, as well as for assigned assessments until students submit assessment work or the assessment's due date passes.
After you add questions, you can edit or remove them, or return all questions in the assessment to their original published state.
Add questions to an assessment
- Open Create assignment or Edit assignment.
- In either the Content library or the assignment box, select an assessment's options menu then Edit.
Then:
- Select Create new, then Your own question.
- Add the question title, optionally a question stem, and question body.
The question title appears in the assessment summary. The question stem can provide background for multiple-part questions. The question body is the text that students see.
- Add answers, along with optional feedback for each answer. Include at least one more answer than points for the question.
- Select the correct answer.
- Optionally, lock the position of one or more answers. For example, lock "All of the above" in the final answer position.
- Select Preview to see the new question as students do, or Add to add the question to the assessment.
- Save the assessment to save the questions you created.
- Select Create new then Question from bank.
- Select a chapter then Find to see questions related to that chapter.
- Select the questions you want or Select all.
- Select Preview to see new questions as students do, or Add to add selected questions to the assessment.
- Save the assessment to save the questions you added.
Select a question's options menu then Remove.
After adding your own questions or question bank questions to an assessment, select Revert to original to remove all your changes.
