Live Response in your class
Live Response helps you focus your instruction on material that students need to master. Students answer questions in brief in-class sessions, so you can quickly evaluate what they know and where they still need help.
Live Response can be used in many ways, but a typical session might include these steps:
- Create questions to deliver to students. You can label questions to organize them, and can copy questions to use in multiple sections or courses.
- Optionally organize related questions into folders.
- Before the class begins, add questions or folders to a queue. You can add them one at a time or can select and add them all.
- Begin a session and deliver the questions to students.
- View student responses in real time.
- Discuss material that students still need to master.
- Resend any questions that students need to try again.
- Optionally, divide students into chat groups so they can discuss a question among themselves.
- View the second round of results as students respond.
- End the session and then review reports to determine your next steps.
When students open Live Response, they see a Join button after you start a session. Students then respond to questions you send. As you provide answers, the students' session view updates.
Live Response works in any browser, so you and your students don't need to install any additional apps. Students can respond by computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Pearson products provide access to learning technology programs for users with disabilities. See Navigate questions by keyboard for information on using a screen reader to work with questions.
