Transfer Learning Catalytics scores
Updated 05 Mar 2024
Student scores for Learning Catalytics sessions are reported to the Learning Catalytics Gradebook. You can also transfer scores to a Pearson course gradebook.
Open the course in Learning Catalytics, and then click Gradebook.
Tip: Remember to click to send scores to the Learning Catalytics Gradebook.
Students can't see the Learning Catalytics Gradebook.
Select the option to send grade data.
[Optional] If you want your selection to be the default value for new modules you create, select the option to do so.
- When a session's grades are transferred to the MyLab Gradebook, the date/time the session ended is added to the MyLab's assignment list.
- If you select both Grade Transfer and Hide sessions for this module from students, Learning Catalytics will transfer grades to the MyLab Gradebook as soon as you stop the session.
- Typically a module is delivered in a single session, but if you deliver a module in more than one session in the same course, scores for each session are transferred separately and appear in separate columns in the Mastering or other Pearson course gradebook.
Note:
- If you do not select the Gradebook Transfer check box when creating a module, assignments for that module's session appear in the MyLab course only while the session is in progress, so that students can join the session. When you end the session, the assignment and its grades are deleted from the MyLab gradebook.
- However, you can edit the module to select the Gradebook Transfer option. When you deliver the next session, the session assignments, including the previous sessions, will be re-created and the grades transferred.
- Any edits to a module's scoring affect scores for all sessions, including the previous sessions of the same module in the same course.
- If you don't want to affect scores for sessions already delivered, copy the module. Then deliver the same content using separate modules.
You can edit individual student session scores in the Learning Catalytics Gradebook. Any changes you make are automatically transferred and updated in your Mastering or other Pearson course gradebook.
Important: If you edit a student's score, that score remains static even if you change participation weighting or point values in the module.
If scores for a session have already been sent to Mastering, you can remove them in either of two ways:
-
If the module is delivered in multiple sessions, remove scores for one session by following the steps below. The data is permanently deleted from both Learning Catalytics and Mastering. Deleting this data does not affect any other session data.
-
In the Mastering Gradebook, click the column head for the Learning Catalytics session for which you want to delete scores.
Tip: To confirm that you're deleting the correct data, you can point to the column head to see the module title, session ID, and date. Learning Catalytics scores always have a blue column head.
-
In the Learning Catalytics session review page, click the Delete data link near the top of the page.
- Switch back to the Mastering Gradebook and refresh your browser to see the change.
-
-
If the module is delivered only once in this course, you can remove scores by unchecking the Gradebook Transfer option for the module and clicking Save.
Important: If you have delivered multiple sessions of the module, this method removes scores for all sessions from Mastering. The scores are preserved in Learning Catalytics, so you can restore them to Mastering by selecting Gradebook Transfer again.
You can edit session scores in the Learning Catalytics Gradebook. All changes you make there are automatically updated in your Pearson course gradebook.
Important: If you edit a session score, that score remains static even if you change participation weighting, credit/extra-credit scoring, or point values in the module.
See the "Edit a score" section in Learning Catalytics scores.
