Choose whether Path Builders and Skill Checks assessments are optional or required.
When required, students must complete the Path Builder or Skill Check before they can start work in a content area or module. When optional, Path Builders and Skill Checks are available, but are not required.

Choose how students demonstrate mastery.
For Mastery score, optionally enter the minimum score required to prove mastery. This score is applied to assessments that use direct mastery and to activities when you require activity scores to show mastery.
You can override this setting for an individual assignment.
For Basis for topic mastery, choose how mastery scores are applied to assessments and activities.
When you select Students must complete all topic/lesson activities with a mastery score, the topic/lesson Post-test is removed.
If you uncheck Lower score on later attempts should not dismiss mastered state, the state is reset to Needs Study. In this case, you should set Most recent score for the attempt to include in the gradebook so that the student sees the score used to calculate mastery status. The course default displays the best score, even though the later lower score overwrites it.

Choose whether students can send Writing Practice activities to you for feedback. By default, students can submit only to Pearson's Intelligent Essay Assessor (IEA) for instant feedback.
