Enroll in a standalone course

This procedures are only for students enrolling in standalone courses; that is, courses that are not in MyLab and Mastering, MyLabsPlus, or an LMS such as Blackboard.

The procedures for enrolling in a standalone ACCUPLACER//MyLab course and other standalone courses are slightly different. Both are detailed below.

ACCUPLACER//MyLab standalone course

This procedure is applicable only for ACCUPLACER//MyLab standalone courses; for example, you would not use it to enroll in courses like MyLab Reading or MyLab Literature.

When you received the results of your diagnostic tests, you should have received a Course ID, which has letters and numbers like this: AM02-K19Y-60LW-83RK

You should also have received a Learning Locator code. This code might have both numbers and letters, and it will personalize your course based on the results of your diagnostic tests.

You need both a Course ID and a Learning Locator code to enroll in your course. If you do not have these, please contact Pearson Support.

How to enroll in a course

Select Enroll in a new course on the My Courses page.
You might have to select the My Courses link in the course banner to get to the My Courses page.
Enter the Course ID on the Enroll in a new course page.
Select Enroll to join your course.
Enter the code you received on the Enter your Locator Code page.
Select OK to open your course when the Enrollment Confirmation message appears.

Standalone course other than ACCUPLACER//MyLab

If you are planning to take a course with an instructor, your instructor must give you the Course ID. It looks something like this: XL02-K19Y-60LW-83RK

If you are planning to take a course without an instructor, you don't need a Course ID.

This procedure is applicable only for standalone courses other than ACCUPLACER//MyLab; for example, you would use it to enroll in courses like standalone MyLab Reading or MyLab Foundational Skills. For an ACCUPLACER//MyLab course, see Enter an ACCUPLACER//MyLab Learning Locator code.

To enroll in a course

Select Enroll in a new course on the My Courses page.
You might have to select the My Courses link in the course banner to get to the My Courses page.
Choose how you will work in your course on the Enroll in a new course page:
- If you have an instructor and a course ID, select I have a course id from my instructor and need to access the course, and enter the ID in the boxes. To copy and paste the ID, select Switch to a single box.
- If you do not have an instructor, select I don't have a course ID from an instructor and would like to use this site on my own, and select the course you want to take from the dropdown list that appears when you select this option.
Select Enroll to join your course.
Select OK to open your course when the Enrollment Confirmation message appears.

You can return to the Enroll in a new course page at any time to join another course or change to a new section of the same course.

If you start a self-study course and then switch to an instructor-led course using the exact same course materials, the results from any assignments you submitted are automatically imported into the instructor-led course. If your self-study course and the instructor-led course use different course materials, you will see a warning saying that your results could not be imported.

If you start an instructor-led course and then switch to an instructor-led course using the exact same course materials, contact your instructor if your results are not imported automatically.
