Attach files to an assignment

You can attach uploaded files to an assignment. These can be files that you have already uploaded or files you want to upload as you create or edit the assignment. When you attach the files, the MyLab creates links to them, and students have access to the links when they open the assignment. Students can open a linked file and, optionally, save it to their own systems.

Tip: You can also post uploaded files to the student Home page. See Post Files to Students for more information.

To attach uploaded files to an assignment:

  1. When creating or editing an assignment, click the Add Files button on the Assignment Builder page titled "Set Titles and Dates."

The MyLab opens a modified version of the File Manager, which lists your uploaded files.

  2. Do the following if you need to upload the file you want to attach:
    1. Click the list of allowable file types link to display a list of supported file types.
    2. Click the folder (in the My Files list) into which you want to upload the file.
    3. Click the Browse button and select the file to upload.
    4. (Optional) Enter a display name for the file in the File Display Name text box.

The display name is the name you and your students will see. If you do not enter a display name, the MyLab displays the file name instead.

    5. Click the Upload button.

The MyLab uploads the file and adds it to the folder

  6. When you are finished posting files, click the Close link.

If you later decide to remove a posted file from the assignment, edit the assignment and click the file's Delete icon .
