Create a collaboration assignment

A collaboration assignment is similar to a wiki in that multiple students work on a single document as a group. You determine the number of groups (or teams) and which students belong to each group. All group members have the opportunity to work on the assignment, one at a time. (The MyLab locks the assignment when a student is working on it.)

Note: When a student completes his or her work on the assignment, that same student or another one can still reopen the assignment. Each time a student opens a "finished" collaboration assignment, the student needs to resubmit the assignment to you as finished. You may want to advise your students that each group should reach a group decision when the assignment is finished, and all group members then need to flag the assignment as finished.

You cannot open a collaboration assignment in the student view because you are not a member of a group. To see the student side, refer to the .pdf file Collaboration Assignments: A Student Perspective.
