Attach a file to a student submission

When creating or editing an assignment, you can select to Allow Attachments for Submissions. This option allows students to attach files as their submissions and allows you to attach files in response to the student submissions. Your attached files are returned to the student as part of an assignment's draft history.

Your file attachment(s) must be one of the allowable file types you selected for the assignment, but the file can have any information you want. For example, you could attach a student's rubric scores, your markups on the student's writing, and your overall comments on the submission. Another option is to download a student's attachment for an assignment, edit it and enter comments, then attach your edited copy to the student's submission.

If you have selected Yes for the Allow Attachments for Submissions setting, you can attach up to three files to a student submission for a composition, collaboration, or peer-review assignment.

To attach a file to a student submission:

  1. Open a student's composition, collaboration, or peer-review assignment.
  2. Click the Attach File button.
  3. Click the Browse button and select the file to attach.
  4. Click the Upload and Attach button to attach the file to the assignment.

To detach an attached file:

You can remove a file that you have attached to an assignment. Before you remove it, check to see if you have a copy of it on your system because the MyLab will also remove the file from the File Manager.

  1. Click the attached file's Delete icon (to the right of the file name).

The file is removed from the assignment and from the File Manager.
