Peer-review assignments

For a peer-review assignment, you review and comment on documents submitted by members of your group. For example, if your group has four members including you, you need to review three documents. Similarly, the other group members will each review one another's and your document. After commenting on your peers' documents and submitting the assignment, the instructor reviews and grades your comments.

When you open a peer-review assignment, the assignment details window lists the other members in your group. If the instructor has opted for anonymous reviews, the MyLab displays Student 1, Student 2, and so on instead of the students' names. To open a peer's document, click the corresponding Review button. The MyLab opens the composing space:

If your peer wrote the document in the composing space, it displays your peer's document.
If your peer attached a document to the assignment, the composing space displays the Paperclip icon and a link for the attached document (above the text editor). In this case, do the following:
1. Click the document's link to open the attachment.
2. Review your peer's writing and enter your comments in the composing space.

As you are working on a peer review in the composing space, note the following:

Clicking the link under Other Content in the Writer's Toolkit opens a window with links to tips on peer reviews.
Comments you enter in the composing space are displayed in bold blue. You can also use the formatting icons to change text formats.
Click the View Assignment Details button to display the instructor's directions and guidelines for the assignment and to access any files or links to Resources your instructor included.
To save your work, select the Save button or Save and Close from the File menu. (Where is the File menu?)
When you are ready for the instructor to grade your review comments, click the Submit button. You cannot change a submitted review. When you have submitted all your reviews, the MyLab sends the assignment to the instructor.
Be sure to note the difference between saving and submitting. Saving saves the document and you can continue working on it at a later time. Submitting submits the document to your instructor to comment on and grade. Click the Submit button only when your draft is complete.
Click the Restore Original button to permanently remove any comments you entered in the composing space. You can then restart your review.
You can review your comments by clicking the View Reviews button in the assignment's details window . The MyLab displays all your unsubmitted reviews in one window; scroll down to see your reviews for the first student, then the second, and so on.
