Section instructors list

As the course owner, you can see all section instructors enrolled in your course. You can also hide or show a section instructor’s name in students’ course details, remove an enrolled section instructor from the course, and print the list or export it to a CSV file.

To open the list of section instructors, you have two options:

  • Select the section instructor total for the course on the My Courses page. For example, Section Instructors: 4.
  • From within an open course:
    1. Select Manage Course from the main menu, then select Course Roster. (In some courses you select Course Roster under Course Tools. In Modified Mastering courses you select Roles & Enrollment Status.)
    2. Select Section Instructors at the top of the page.

    • A list of all enrolled section instructors and their email addresses appears.

You can choose to show or hide a section instructor in students’ course details. By default section instructors are hidden from the Instructor(s) list in the details. If there are many section instructors in your course, you might want to show only a few of them to keep the Instructor(s) list short.

Hiding section instructors does not change their access privileges in the course.

  1. Use the search field or the alphabetical list to find a section instructor in the Name column.

    The Hide column indicates whether the section instructor is currently shown or hidden in students’ course details.

  2. In the Hide column select Hidden or Shown.
  3. For Hide/show name in students' course details, select Hide or Show.
  4. Select Close to go back to the list.

    The row is highlighted to indicate a change.

  5. Change the option for additional section instructors, if necessary.
  6. Select Save to apply changes to all highlighted rows in the list, or Cancel to discard all changes and close the roster.

Section instructors can’t hide other section instructors.

  1. Use the search field or the alphabetical list to find a section instructor in the Name column.
  2. Select Remove in the Actions column.
  3. Confirm that you want to permanently remove the section instructor by selecting Remove, or select Cancel.

    A confirmation message shows. It might take some time for the change to complete.

  4. Select Return to Section Instructors or Close.
    • You see the status message Removing… on the section instructors list while the change is in progress.
    • When the change is complete, the section instructor’s name no longer shows on the list, and he can no longer access the course.

A section instructor can see the list, but can’t remove another section instructor.

The printed section instructors list includes the instructor’s name, username, email, and the most recently saved role and status information. The Hide column indicates if the instructor’s name is shown or hidden on students’ course details.

  • To print the section instructors list, select the print icon, and choose your printer options.

The print version of the section instructors list does not include any highlighted changes that you did not yet save.

The exported section instructors list includes the name, username, email, status, and role information for each instructor.

  • To export the section instructors list, select the Export to CSV icon.

The exported file saves to your computer with the name courseID-SectionInstructors.csv.

To open the CSV file, use any text editor or spreadsheet application that supports CSV files, such as Microsoft® Excel.
