Create and edit readiness checks and practice tests with study plans
Note: In MyLanguageLabs, you build readiness checks and practice tests with study plans using the study plan activity type.
When your course includes readiness checks, you can track student progress in mastering subject material in the course. You can follow student progress from pre-test scores in the readiness check to post-test scores, where students demonstrate mastery of the material.
You can also use student outcomes on pre-tests and post-tests to determine whether students are struggling and need additional help.
Pearson creates and provides one or more readiness checks for each chapter of a course. Use Pearson-created study plans when possible.
Note: Readiness checks that you create are called study plans. Aside from the name, study plan and readiness check functionality is identical.
Readiness checks offer students multiple opportunities to fully master their required subjects:
Students can assess their initial mastery of
subject matter through the pre-test.
Students can advance their subject matter understanding and mastery through the delivery of personalized study materials selected based on pre-test performance results.
Students can use the post-test to assess their mastery after they work with the personalized study materials.
Within a course, you can use the Preferences > Study Plan page to determine readiness check presentation options and preferences.
Note: You can change the names of "pre-test" and "post-test" on the course Preferences > Study Plan page. Regardless of the activity name, however, the pre-tests and post-tests function as described.
Caution: Editing a Pearson-provided readiness check is strongly discouraged. The three components of the readiness check (pre-test, study materials, and post-test) are intricately connected, so editing any of them may disrupt these connections.
