Review Grader project submissions

Updated 19 Feb 2024

You can review information about a Grader project and how one or all students completed it in the View Submissions window.

Video: Reviewing submissions for Grader Projects

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Locate the Grader project in the My Course list on the right side of the Course Materials > Add from Library page.
    • Locate the Grader project on the Grades page.
  2. Click View Submissions on the simulation activity's options menu. The submission name and ID appears at the top of the window.
  3. In the Students list on the left, click the plus sign to the left of the name of the student whose submission you want to examine.
  4. Examine the score card data, which shows how many points the student earned for each step of the project as well as the maximum points possible for each step. The total points the student earned appears at the bottom of the report.
  5. Display any of the other three available views by clicking its link:
    • Submitted File: Lets you download the actual file submitted by the student.
    • Summary Report: Lets you view a report in a separate window with more details about where the student lost points on the Grader project. Click the arrow to the left of a step number as needed to expand or collapse the display.
    • Marked-up Report: Displays a representation of a submission that is 100% correct. A green checkmark appears in each area that the student completed successfully; a red "X" appears in each area in which the student made an error. You can click a red "X" to see the instruction on which the student lost points. This report also indicates whether partial credit was awarded for any step.

You can also click Live Comments in the top-right corner to view the student submission with embedded comments based on typical instructor feedback for a manually checked version of the same Grade Project. The comments indicate how many points the student lost and why. Students can also see these comments in their individual gradebook.
  6. When you finish, click Save to review another student's submission or Save and Close to close the View Submissions window.

  • Students have access to the same reports for their Grader project assignments in their individual gradebook.
  • If a student made multiple attempts, you can see a report for each one by clicking each submission in turn in the list on the right.

Grader projects and potential integrity violations

When students download the starting file for a Grader project, a token with each student's individual student ID is added to the file. As a result, if a student copies another student’s work and uploads it as his or her own—or uses another student’s file for upload—you can set a preference that displays a integrity violation icon in the gradebook, on the Today's View page and in the View Submissions window next to the assignment with the potential violation.

  1. Click Show Details. In the Integrity Checker box, you see the student ID of the submitted assignment and also the student ID associated with the violation.
  2. The submission is checked at both the document level and the content level.

If you select Notify Student of the Integrity Violation, an integrity violation icon appears in the student's gradebook, View Submissions window, and Today's View page to alert the student that he or she has been tagged with an integrity violation.

To locate the other student associated with the integrity violation, you can download your student roster from the Gradebook > Grades page to see which student the ID belongs to. If the other ID is not in your course, please contact Technical Support to locate the other user.

If the other student removed his or her student ID before uploading the suspect grader project file, a "No UserID found" message appears.
