Select and add study materials
Updated 19 Feb 2024
In MyLab Languages, you build readiness checks and practice tests with study plans using the study plan activity type.
You add study materials to a readiness check after you create a pre-test. The folders from which you select the pre-test questions appear in the Study Material section. You can:
- Click up and down arrows to reorganize folders. The reorder option is available if you select pre-test questions from more than one folder.
- Add study materials.
- Set the study material pass criterion.
- Mark study material as persistent.
- Filter the display of study materials.
Add study materials
To add study materials, add the readiness check, create or select the pre-test, click Add Study Material, and then click one of the following options:
-
Select the course material you want to add. To preview the material, click Show preview.
-
Click Add and Close. Use the options menu to preview, edit, or delete study materials. To delete multiple study material assets, click the box for each asset you want to delete and then click Remove on the Study Material toolbar.
This option is available after you cut or copy materials in the Study Material list to the clipboard.
- Select the study materials you want to move and click Cut.
- Navigate to another section.
- Click Paste in the study material tool bar and indicate where you want the asset to appear in the list. Alternatively, click Add Study Material for the section and then click Paste from Clipboard.
The study materials appear in the new section.
Set study material pass criteria
- Click the underlined percentage next to Pass criteria above the list of study material.
- Type the percentage required to pass the study material.
It is a good practice to set the study material pass criteria at the same percentage as the pre-test and post-test pass criteria.
- Click Save.
Filter the display of study materials
To filter study material display by study material activity type, select one of the following options from the Show drop-down list:
- Learning Objectives and Study Material
- Learning objectives only
- Study Material only
You can view the following details for all study materials:
- Name: Displays the name of the study material.
- Shown to: Indicates which students or groups can view the study material.
- Type: Displays the activity type of the study material.
- Order: Displays the order in which study materials appear to students. This option is not available when Study Materials only is selected on the Show list. To change the order, click the order icon and drag study materials to another location in the list.
- Option: Displays the context menu for study materials.
Edit study materials
To edit study materials, select Edit from the options menu and make the changes you want. Note that editing study materials added to the readiness check modifies all other instances of those study materials in the course.
