Edit expressions
Updated 28 Aug 2023
You can edit an expression using the Equation Editor after you create it. You also can group text into an expression to prevent it from breaking across two lines in the question-and-answer area.
- In the question-and-answer area, double-click the expression
you want to edit. (You can also right-click in the expression and select
Editing Options > Edit Object.)
The Equation Editor opens and displays the expression.
- Edit the expression.
To select a template (for example, fractions or integrals), press the Backspace key when the cursor is immediately to the right of the template. Press Backspace again to delete the selected template. (You can also hold down the SHIFT key and use the left or right arrow keys to select a template.)
- Click OK to save your changes.
If you place an expression at the end of a line in the question-and-answer area, it might wrap onto a second line. To prevent this problem, you can group an expression or other text using the Equation Editor. The grouped text stays on one line when students see the question.
- Select the expression or text that you want to group.
- Click Equation Editor in the
left menu.
The Equation Editor opens and displays the selected text.
- Click OK.
The grouped expression or text now displays in the question-and-answer area with a blue background.
You also can group an expression or text in the question-and-answer area without opening the Equation Editor. To do so, select the text, and press Ctrl+F.
