Work with the Equation Editor
Updated 28 Aug 2023
The Equation Editor lets you create expressions that include mathematical notation, symbols, and other special characters. You can also use the Equation Editor to group expressions so they do not wrap to a second line.
The Equation Editor is a type-formatting tool and does not perform mathematical calculations. To do calculations, you create algorithmic values and then insert the values in expressions you create with the Equation Editor.
Using the Equation Editor, you can create expressions from scratch or you can convert text that you typed in the question-and-answer area into an expression.
- In the question-and-answer area of the Custom Question Builder, position the cursor where you want to add a new expression.
- Click Equation Editor in the left menu.
- Use the buttons in the Equation Editor to create your expression.
- Click OK to insert your expression into your question.
See Use the Equation Editor for a detailed description of the options in the Equation Editor window.
See Edit expressions for information on editing expressions and creating grouped expressions and text.
