Plot points in a data set

On the Plots tab of the Edit Graph window, you can plot points in a data set to add to a graph created in the Custom Question Builder.

You plot points on the graph by entering the x and y coordinates for each point. You can connect points sequentially with line segments.

To plot the points in a data set:

  1. Click Add on the Plots tab and select Points from the dropdown list.

    A data set label displays in the box at the top of the window.

  2. Edit the data set using the options below.

In the list of data points, enter the x and y coordinates of each point, one row at a time. Right-click and choose Editing Options to insert predefined algorithmic values or math functions, or you can type in these values and functions directly. You can also create new algorithmic values.

Color - Click the color code box to display the color chart, and then select the color for your points by clicking a color or by entering a color code in the box.

Size - Use the slider to set the size of the points.

Filled - Select this option to display your points as closed (solid) circles. Clear the check box to display your points as open (empty) circles.

Connect points in sequence - Select this check box to display a line connecting your points. If you want to connect the last point to the first point, you must re-enter the coordinates of the first point at the bottom of the list of data points.

Color - Click the color code box to display the color chart, and then select the color for your connecting line by clicking a color or by entering a color code in the box.

Style - From the dropdown list, select a line style for the line between your points.
