Create a test group with prerequisites

In MyMathTest courses, you can group a series of tests that increase in difficulty and then set prerequisites for all but the first test. In the gradebook, set up automatic placement based on student performance in the test group.

Group tests

  1. Use the Test Manager to create the tests to group.
  2. From the Test Manager, select More Tools > Set Prerequisites.
  3. Select the tests, choose the prerequisites for each test, along with the scores required to advance to the next test in the sequence.
  4. Optionally select Advanced Settings to choose multiple prerequisites for a test, select prerequisites for specific test attempts, or choose alternate prerequisites for a test. See Use prerequisites for details.
  5. Select Group.

After a student successfully takes a test, the student sees a page with information about the next test in the series and can go on to the next test in the group.

Learn about test groups

Students take grouped tests in sequence. After a student successfully achieves at least the required score on the first test, the student is immediately presented with the next test, and so on. When the student does not get the required score on one of the tests in the sequence, the score from the previous test is used to recommend the appropriate course.

When you allow students to make multiple attempts at a group of tests, students start their additional attempts with the last test for which they met the prerequisite. For example, if you have four tests in a group, test 1, test 2, test 3, and test 4, each test is a prerequisite for the one following it. A student who meets the prerequisites for tests 2 and 3 but not test 4 on the first attempt will re-enter at the beginning test 3 on the second attempt.

However, if a student's work is interrupted while taking a group of tests (for example, if the internet connection fails), the student can log in again and continue working from the point at which the connection failed.

You cannot delete tests in a group. To remove a grouped test, go to the Use prerequisites page and ungroup the series of tests.
