Enable access to incomplete tests
You can choose how students resume a test or quiz they didn't complete.
Students who did not submit a test or quiz (for example, due to a technical problem) see "incomplete" for the assignment on their Results page.
Enable access for all students
- In the Assignment Manager, find the test or quiz, select the 3-dot Options menu. and choose Assignment settings.
- Under Access Controls, select ...students may re-access and complete on their own to allow any student to resume without your permission.
Enable access for an individual student
- Go to the results view of the Gradebook.
- Select the student’s name to open their Results page.
- Select Actions > Enable Access for the interrupted test.
Enable access for multiple selected students
- Go to the Gradebook.
- Select More Tools > Enable Access.
- On the Enable Access to Incomplete Tests page, select the + (plus sign) beside the assignment name.
- Select the check box beside the name of each student to allow back into the test. If students made multiple attempts, you can allow them to resume a specific attempt or all attempts.
What happens when students resume a test or quiz
When you enable access, the Attempts column on students' Homework and Tests and Results pages now displays "retake allowed."
When students resume an incomplete test or quiz:
- All of their answers so far are restored.
- Students can change answers that were already entered.
- The number of attempts is not incremented until the student submits the test or quiz. A single attempt can be resumed multiple times.
- If the assignment has a time limit, the time spent so far on the attempt is subtracted from the total time.
- The count does not increment when the test or quiz is set to allow multiple attempts. For example, if a student was interrupted doing the second of three possible attempts, their resumption counts as the second attempt.
