Export the roster
In some courses, instructors and section instructors can export your roster to a comma separated value (CSV) file. The exported roster includes the student name, username, email, and the most recently saved role, roster access, and subscription type information. Roster access is automatically set to FALSE in the CSV file for both Student and Teaching Assistant roles.
- If available in your course, select Manage Course from the main menu, and then select Course Roster for MyLab or Roles and Enrollment Status for Mastering.
(In some courses, select Course Roster under Course Tools.
- Select the Export to CSV icon .
The exported file saves to your computer with the name course ID-roster.csv.
- To open the CSV file, use any text editor or spreadsheet application that supports CSV files, such as Microsoft® Excel.
Subscription types do not show in the roster list. They only show in the exported CSV file and might include:
- Temporary access (Temp) — Allows full access to the course without payment for a limited time.
- Time-based access (TBA) — Lasts for less time than the full duration of the course at a reduced price.
- Life of edition (LOE) — Gives access to the course materials until they are no longer available in the catalog. The student pays once and can enroll in multisemester courses that use the same course materials for as long as it takes to complete the curriculum.
- None — No access to the course materials.
If applicable, the exported roster might include course access expiration dates for temporary access and time-based access subscription types, or payment types for LMS courses.
If your institution or school lets students opt in or opt out to pay the school for access to your course through your learning management system (LMS), one of the following payment types shows for each student listed in the roster export file.
- Opted in to institution payment — The school bills the student for access to the course materials.
- Opted out: paid to Pearson — The student completed online payment with an access code, credit card, PayPal, or Apple Pay.
- Opted out: not yet paid to Pearson — The student is inactive. To access the course, the student can pay Pearson or opt back in to pay the school, unless the opt-in period has expired.
