View payment types (for LMS integrated courses)
Updated 09 Nov 2023
- Students who opt in pay the school. Your institution or school can let students opt in to pay the school for access to Pearson materials through your learning management system (LMS) course.
- Students who opt out pay Pearson. If students opt out of institution payment, they pay Pearson instead of the school with an access code, credit card, or, if available, PayPal. Temporary access through Pearson is not available.
One of the following payment types shows in the roster for each registered student. This information helps you identify, for example, why a particular student might not yet have access to your course.
These payment types also show in the CSV file if you export the roster.
Student opted in: to institution payment
- The school bills the student for access to the course materials.
- By default, the student is active and can access the course, but you can change the status to inactive.
- You can promote this student to teaching assistant.
Student opted out: paid to Pearson
- The student completed payment to Pearson with an access code, credit card, or, if available, PayPal.
- By default, the student is active and can access the course, but you can change the status to inactive.
- You can promote this student to teaching assistant.
Student opted out: not yet paid to Pearson
- The student is inactive and you can't change the status to active. To access the course, the student can pay Pearson or opt back in to pay the school, unless the opt-in period has expired.
- The instructor can't promote an inactive student to teaching assistant.
