Manage announcements
You can create and edit announcements, post them on student Home pages, and email them to students.
- Open the Announcements Manager:
- In MyLab and Mastering courses, select Manage View > Manage Announcements from the top of your Instructor Home page.
- In MathXL or MathXL for School, choose Announcements Manager from the menu.
- On the Home Page Manager, either:
- Select Create Announcement
- Select Actions > Edit to update an existing announcement.
In a member section, announcements inherited from the coordinator course are shown with a diamond icon .
- Choose when and where to display the announcement on student Home pages:
- Display on this date - the date when the announcement is posted for students.
- Display on alternate date - the date when the announcement appears in the calendar.
For example, to announce ten days in advance that your class will be canceled on December 25th, enter 12/15/2015 in the Display on this date box. Enter 12/25/2015 in the Display on alternate date box to post the announcement on the calendar for December 25th.
If you select a future date, the announcement appears at 12:00 AM on that day.
- Optionally enter a date in the Remove Date box. The announcement is automatically removed at midnight on that day.
- If you use student tagging, optionally send the announcement only to students with a selected tag.
- Enter your announcement title and body text. Use the icons to create hyperlinks, format text, or enter special symbols ().
Note: If you copy and paste formatted text from software such as Microsoft Word, hidden codes are inserted into your announcement and may exceed to maximum allowed length. If you get an error, first save your announcement as a text file.
- Either:
- Select Save and Email Announcement to post your announcement and email the information to all active students.
- Select Save Announcement to post your announcement.
- Optionally create announcements for another course by selecting the course name from the dropdown list in the breadcrumbs at the top of the page.
