Restrict tests and quizzes to specific IP addresses
If your school uses proxy servers to control student access to the internet, you can require students to take quizzes and tests within a specified IP address range.
IP address restrictions must first be set at the course level to apply them to individual tests and quizzes.
Set restrictions at the course level
- Go to the Edit Course wizard, Learning Aids and Test Options.
- Select Require students to take IP-restricted quizzes and tests within the following IP address range.
- Select Change to enter the address range. Contact your local lab or IT administrator to get the required addresses.
If you clear this option, IP address restrictions are removed for all tests and quizzes in your course.
If you change course-level restrictions after the course has started, the revised settings apply only to new tests or quizzes.
Manage restrictions for individual tests or quizzes
- Go to the assignment wizard step 3, Choose Settings.
- Under Access Controls, uncheck IP Address Range to remove the restriction.
- Optionally select Change to edit or remove IP addresses.
Manage restrictions for multiple assignments
- Go to the Assignment Manager.
- Select Manage or More Tools > Change Settings for Multiple Assignments.
- For Assignment Type, choose Test or Quiz.
- Select Choose to pick assignments.
- Under Access Controls, clear IP Address Range to remove the restriction.
- Optionally select Change to edit or remove IP addresses.
