Use StatCrunch for statistics
StatCrunch is a web-based tool that students can use to analyze data in statistics and related courses. You can upload your own data or use data from a website.
StatCrunch works on desktop browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Internet Explorer, or Safari. It also works with web browsers on smartphones or tablets running iOS, Android, and other mobile operating systems.

- Go to the Edit Course wizard, Learning Aids and Test Options.
- From the list of Learning Aids, select StatCrunch, if available.
- Go the assignment wizard step 3 for an individual assignment or go to the Change Settings for Multiple Assignments page.
- Under Presentation Options, Learning Aids, select Change.
- From the list, select StatCrunch, if available.
For locked-down tests or quizzes, select StatCrunch to allow students to access statistical data as they answer questions. All other learning aids are available only for review after a locked-down test is submitted.
When students use StatCrunch with the LockDown Browser, they open it from a question that has a StatCrunch data box or a StatCrunch data table . Students can select one of these icons and keep StatCrunch open throughout the test.
You might want to create a custom question that students can use to open StatCrunch. You can include instructions to keep StatCrunch open and use it throughout the test or quiz.
To confirm StatCrunch works in LockDown browser:
- On the Course Home page, select View Student Home.
- Select Assignments.
- Select the test or quiz to take.
LockDown Browser opens. - Find a question with or and select the icon to open the data.
If StatCrunch opens, it works correctly in LockDown Browser.
