Print tests
Updated 06 Sep 2022
You can print a non-adaptive test for students to take offline or to review a student's work offline. You also can print all completed tests.
The options available in the Print window depend on whether you are working on a tablet or a PC or laptop. If you are working on a tablet, you have more print options.
Because the questions on an adaptive test are adjusted based on the student's answer to previous questions, you cannot print adaptive math tests before students take them.
For algorithmic questions, where the values are regenerated each time the question is accessed online, the question values are regenerated each time you print. If you want to print different versions of a test with varying question values, you can print multiple times.
If you require students to show their work on a question, extra lines appear after the question so students can write in the steps they took to get the answer. (If, however, you choose to display answers in-line, students see one extra line with the text "Manually graded.")
You can also print a student's completed test from his or her Results page.
- Locate the test in the Test
Manager and select Print
from the Actions dropdown list.
At the top of the Print window, you see your program name and the test name.
- In the text box, optionally enter a unique name for the printed test and its answer key (if you provide it). This name will be printed on the test.
- Under Page Layout, you can select whether to print the test in portrait or landscape mode if you are working in Chrome. Otherwise, you can set this preference in your browser's Print dialog.
- Under Print Random Versions, you can check:
- Scramble question order to randomly order the questions in the print out.
- Reorder multiple choice questions to change the order of choices in multiple choice questions.
- Check Include header to show test information at the top of the printed test. The header includes spaces for students to enter their names and the date. An example header lets you see how the header will appear to students.
- Check Include honor statement to require students to sign a no-cheating pledge on the first page of the test. A default honor statement is provided, but you can edit it.
- Check Include answers to print answers with the test. You can choose one of these ways to provide the answers:
- Check In separate answer key to print the answers on a separate page at the end of the test.
- Check In-line to print the answers in the body of the question.
- Check After each question to print the answers in following each question.
- Check Include Question ID to display the number of the corresponding question in your textbook.
- Click Print to open your browser's Print dialog, where you can send the file wirelessly to your printer or save it as a PDF file and email it to yourself so you can print from a PC or laptop.
Select Cancel/Done when you are finished.
