Use alerts
Gradebook alerts show you students who have not submitted any work for the past ten days and lets you know when work needs manual grading.

From the main page of the Gradebook, select Inactivity under Alerts.
On the Alerts page, you can:
- Select one or more students and choose Email selected students at the bottom of the list to send an email to all selected students.
- Select a student's name to view their Results page.
- From the Actions menu, choose:
- Email Student to send a message to the student.
- Archive to move the alert to the archive.
- Select Archive at the bottom of the list to archive the alerts for all selected students.
- Select the Work needs grading tab to open this view of the Alerts page.

The "Work needs grading" table lists all students who have submitted work that you need to grade manually. You can also see the number of ungraded questions in the assignment.
- From the main page of the Gradebook, select Work needs grading under Alerts.
- Select the name of a test to view the work for the first student who submitted the test.
- View each question that needs grading and enter a score in the Grade box.
Select a question number at the top of the player or Next Question/Previous Question to move between questions
- Select Next Student to continue entering grades.
You can choose Previous Student to return to a test you already viewed.
- Optionally select Email Student next to the student's name to email the student.
At the bottom of the list on the Alerts page:
- Select Email selected students to email all selected students.
- Select Archive to archive the alerts for all selected students.

Select Update next to Inactivity to get the latest report. You can update the report once a day. The Update link is available only when your last update was more than 24 hours ago.
Select View archived alerts to see alerts in the archive.
