Add modules and resources

Collections are subdivided into modules just as books are divided into chapters. Each module holds one or more resources, the content or course material you add to the Collection. Therefore, you need to add modules so you can assemble materials in a Collection.

All modules require a name. You can also optionally add a description. The description is text seen by students and can be introductory material related to the module, learning objectives for the material, or any other text you feel important enough to include.

Add resources

A resource is course material, such as a video, an image, a web page, a quiz, or a chapter from a book. Pearson Collections provides the following types of resources:

  • Textbooks, documents, readings, cases, study guides
  • Images
  • Multimedia in the form of videos, audio, interactive maps, lessons, and slides
  • Assessments in the form of activities and quizzes
  • Labs
  • Websites

You can find resources for a Collections by:

Instructors may also have their own personal material that they've developed. This content can be uploaded to Pearson Collections and added to user-created Collections.

Special Resources

Depending on the license associated with a resource, you may encounter one of the following situations when you add a resource to a Collection:

  • The resource has restricted terms of use and cannot be added to your Collection. collapsedMore info

This happens because the resource's terms of use prohibit mixing it with one or more of the resources in your Collection. When you find a restricted resource, you can place it in a separate Collection in order to use it.

  • The resource requires additional resources be added. collapsedMore info

This happens because the content you are adding relies on the additional resources. When you add such a resource to your Collection, any other required resources are automatically added for you. You cannot remove these additional resources without removing the content you are adding.

  • The resource is best used with other resources. collapsedMore info

This happens because the content is best used with other resources, for example a quiz associated with a specific textbook chapter. When you add such a resource to your Collection, any other recommended resources are automatically added for you. You can remove any of these additional resources if you do not want to use them.

You can use the same resource in many different Collections, but for licensing reasons, you cannot use the same resource more than once in the same Collection.

You can add uploaded content to any Collection you create, not to Curated Collections.

You can also add resources directly from the preview player after a search.

When you finish adding resources, you can arrange them within a module or move them to a new module.
