Create and edit assignments

In MediaShare you create assignments so students can submit videos or documents. Assignments are grouped by course; a student enrolled in a course has access to that course's assignments.

When you create or edit an assignment you can add:

• Rubrics: An assignment can have instructor and/or peer-review rubrics, or no rubrics at all.
• Supporting materials: You can add videos, documents, and/or links to an assignment as material that helps students both understand the assignment and create a speech.

Tips 

• Let your students know when the assignment is ready and that it is in MediaShare. A couple of ways to distribute this information is to send them an email in the MyLab or to post it in an announcement on the MyLab Course Home page. (See the MyLab's online Help for information on sending email and posting announcements.)
• When you choose to moderate submissions, students may not realize that this is why their submissions are not published immediately, and they may try to republish them. Let your students know when you will be moderating and publishing comments and/or submissions.

Use the following procedures to create, edit, and delete assignments. Click a procedure's link to display its steps.

To create an assignment

1. Point to the Manage tab and click My Assignments.
2. Select the course you want to add an assignment to from the drop-down list.
3. Click the Create New Assignment button.

   The Create an Assignment page is displayed.

4. Enter or edit the assignment information.

5. Click the Save Assignment button.

To edit an assignment

1. Point to the Manage tab and click My Assignments.
2. Point to the assignment's title and click its Edit link.
3. Change or add information on the Create an Assignment page.
4. Click the Save Assignment button.

To delete an assignment

Deleting an assignment removes it from the gradebook and removes all student submissions and supporting materials.

1. Point to the Manage tab and click My Assignments.
2. Point to the assignment's title and click theDelete link.
3. Click the Delete button to permanently delete the assignment.
