Add assignment or course tool links (Pearson integration only)

If you're using the Pearson (LTI Advantage or LTI 1.3) integration, you can add links that go directly to specific Revel or eText assignments or course tools, such as Grades, from your LMS course. Assignment or course tool links aren't available for the Revel and eText integration. Don't know your integration?
Prerequisites
Before you add assignment or tool links, you need to:
- Add or copy Revel or eText content to your LMS course.

Set up assignments in your Revel or eText content.
Add assignment or course links

Select your Blackboard version to see instructions. Don't know your version?

From your Blackboard course, select or add a content area. To add a content area, select the plus (+) sign at the top of the left navigation. (See Blackboard Help for detailed instructions.)

Select Build Content and then Pearson Links or the name your admin chose.
- From the Add links from list, choose whether to see assignments or course tools. Then scroll to see all the links or search for a specific link. Choose a column heading to sort.

Select one or more assignment or tool links and then Add link. The button shows the number of links you selected. You might need to scroll down to the button.
You'll see the new assignment or tool links in the content area where you added them.
You might see characters you don't expect in the headings of your assignment or tool links. You can delete them.
Next, get students started.

- From your Blackboard course, select View course & institution tools under Books & Tools.
- Select Browse all course tools under Can't find what you need.
- Select Pearson Links or the name your admin chose under Institution tools.
- From the Add links from list, choose whether to see assignments or course tools. Then scroll to see all the links or search for a specific link. Choose a column heading to sort.

Select one or more assignment or tool links and then Add link. The button shows the number of links you selected. You might need to scroll down to the button.
You'll see the new assignment or tool links under Course Content.
Next, get students started.

You can add assignment or course tool links to a module or custom assignment.
Add assignment or course tool links to a module
- From your Brightspace course, select Content.

Under Table of Contents, select an existing module or Add a module and then enter a module name. Press ENTER or select a different area of the screen to save your module.
- Select Add Existing Activities and then Pearson Links or the name your admin chose.
- From the Add links from list, choose whether to see assignments or course tools. Then scroll to see all the links or search for a specific link. Choose a column heading to sort.

Select one or more assignment or tool links and then Add link. The button shows the number of links you selected. You might need to scroll down to the button.
- (optional) Re-order assignments or move them to a sub-module.
- Delete any characters you don't expect in the headings of your links.
- To ensure links function properly, set them to open in a new tab or window. Select
and then Edit Properties In-place. Then select the Open as External Resource check box.
From Course Home, you'll see the assignment or tool links under Content Browser.
Next, get students started.

Select Content.

Select your module under Table of Contents.

Select New and then New Assignment.

Select the Insert Stuff icon.

Select Pearson Links or the name your admin chose.
- From the Add links from list, choose whether to see assignments or course tools. Then scroll to see all the links or search for a specific link. Choose a column heading to sort.
- Select one link. If you then select a different link, the previous link is automatically deselected.

Select Add link. You might need to scroll down to see the button.

Select Insert. If you'd like, select the link to see a student view of the assignment.

Select Save and Close to save your custom assignment.
You can re-order assignments or move them to a sub-module.
You might see characters you don't expect in the headings of your assignment or tool links. You can delete them.
Your new custom assignment is available under Content Browser.
To add more assignment or tool links to custom assignments, repeat the previous steps.
Next, get students started.

Select Content.

Select your module under Table of Contents.

Select New and then New Assignment.

Select the Attach Link to Existing Activity icon at the bottom of the page.

Under Third Party, select Pearson Links or the name your admin chose.
- From the Add links from list, choose whether to see assignments or course tools. Then scroll to see all the links or search for a specific link. Choose a column heading to sort.
- Select one link. If you then select a different link, the previous link is automatically deselected.

Select Add link. You might need to scroll down to see the button.

If you'd like, select a link and then Open Pearson to see a student view of the assignment.

Select Save and Close to save your custom assignment.
You can re-order assignments or move them to a sub-module.

Your new custom or tool assignment with the link is available under Content Browser.
To add more assignment or tool links to custom assignments, repeat the previous steps.
Next, get students started.

You can automatically add all Revel or eText assignment links to your Canvas course. Or you can add specific assignment or course tool, such as Grades, links to a module or custom assignment.
Prerequisites: First add Revel or eText content to your Canvas course and set up assignments in your Revel or eText content.
Automatically create all assignment links
Create links for all your assignments by syncing grades and then adding the links to your modules.
- Select the Pearson Access link and then Open Pearson. Don't see the link or need details?
- Sync grades to make links available. Make sure you select the assignments you want to add as links.
After you sync grades, links appear by default in the Canvas Assignments content area. You might need to wait a short while.
- Add the links to a Canvas assignment in a module such as Revel or eText Assignments. (See Canvas Help for how to add content to modules.)
- Open Revel or eText assignments from within your Canvas course. You might need to refresh the page.
Manually add assignment or course tool links
Choose how you'd like to manually add links.

From your Canvas course, select Modules in the left navigation.

Select + Module.

Enter a module name and select Add Module.
- Select the plus (+) sign for the new module.

From the Add list, select External Tool.

Select Pearson Links.
- From the Add links from list, choose whether to see assignments or course tools. Then scroll to see all the links or search for a specific link. Choose a column heading to sort.

Select one or more assignment or tool links and then Add link. The button shows the number of links you selected. You might need to scroll down to the button.

Select Add Item.
You'll see the assignment or tool links in your module.

To ensure links function properly, set them to open in a new tab or window. Select Options (
) next to each link and Edit.
Next, select the Load in a new tab check box and Update.
To add more assignment or tool links, repeat the previous steps.
Next, get students started.

Select Assignments in the left navigation.

Select plus (+) to create new custom assignment.

Select the Apps icon

From the list, select Pearson Links. You might need to select View All to see this option.
- From the Add links from list, choose whether to see assignments or course tools. Then scroll to see all the links or search for a specific link. Choose a column heading to sort.
- Select one link. If you then select a different link, the previous link is automatically deselected.
- Select Add link. You might need to scroll down to the button.
Canvas names the link. You can edit the name using link options. See your Canvas Help for details. (If you added multiple links, their names are grouped together. You can separate them and edit their names.)

Add any other assignment details and then select Save or Save and Publish.
You'll see the custom assignment with your settings applied.
To add more assignment or tool links, repeat the previous steps. When you select the Apps icon, Pearson Links appears as an option.
Next, get students started.

Depending on how your admin set up your course, you might see the option to add assignment or course tool links as an activity or external tool.

- From your Moodle course, turn Editing on.
- Go to the area where you want to add assignment or tool links and select Add an activity or resource.
- Select Pearson or the name your admin chose.
- Choose Select content. You don't need to give the activity a name.
- From the Add links from list, choose whether to see assignments or course tools. Then scroll to see all the links or search for a specific link. Choose a column heading to sort.

Select one or more assignment or tool links and then Add link. The button shows the number of links you selected. You might need to scroll down to the button.
You'll see a confirmation.
- Select Save and return to course. You'll see the assignment or tool links in the area where you added them.
To add more assignment or tool links, repeat the previous steps.
Next, get students started.

- From your Moodle course, turn Editing on.
- Go to the area where you want to add assignment or tool links and select Add an activity or resource.
- Select External Tool.
- In the Preconfigured tool list, select Pearson or the name your admin chose. Then choose Select Content.
- From the Add links from list, choose whether to see assignments or course tools. Then scroll to see all the links or search for a specific link. Choose a column heading to sort.

Select one or more assignment or tool links and then Add link. The button shows the number of links you selected. You might need to scroll down to the button.
You'll see a confirmation.
- Select Save and return to course. You'll see the assignment or tool links in the area where you added them.
To add more assignment or tool links, repeat the previous steps.
Next, get students started.

- From your Sakai course, select Lessons in the left navigation.
- Select the Add content tab.
- Under Simple Content Items, select Add Learning app.
- Choose the Pearson app.
- Select Launch External Tool Configuration.
- From the Add links from list, choose whether to see assignments or course tools. Then scroll to see all the links or search for a specific link. Choose a column heading to sort.
If you select Cancel and there are no links to add, you'll see an "Alert: Error in Deep Link Response (A deep link response must include at least one content_item)" message. Select X to close the message.
- Select one link. If you then select a different link, the previous link is automatically deselected.
- Select Add link. You might need to scroll down to see the button.
You'll see the link you just added.
To add more assignment or tool links, repeat the previous steps.
Next, get students started.

- From your Sakai course, select Assignments in the left navigation.
- Select the Add tab and then the Insert Content Item
icon. (Or select Edit next to an existing assignment.)
- Select Pearson. You might need to wait a moment to see the Add Links page.
- From the Add links from list, choose whether to see assignments or course tools. Then scroll to see all the links or search for a specific link. Choose a column heading to sort.
If you there are no links to add and you select Cancel, you'll see an "Alert: Error in Deep Link Response (A deep link response must include at least one content_item)" message. Select X to close the message.
- Select one or more links and then Add links. The button shows the number of links you selected. You might need to scroll down to see the button.
You'll see the assignment or tool links under Assignment Instructions on the Add new assignment page.
- Clear the Grade this assignment check box and complete the remaining fields.
- Select Post.
- Select the new assignment to see the assignment or tool links under Assignment Instructions.
Next, get students started.
External Tool Import error: If you try to add assignment or tool links via More Tools > External Tool Import, you'll get an "Alert: Missing file item in deep link response" error after you select a link. We don't recommend this method for adding assignment or tool links.

- From your Schoology course, select Materials in the left navigation.

Select the Add Materials tab and then Pearson.
- From the Add links from list, choose whether to see assignments or course tools. Then scroll to see all the links or search for a specific link. Choose a column heading to sort.
If you there are no links to add and you select Cancel, you'll see an "Alert: Error in Deep Link Response (A deep link response must include at least one content_item)" message. Select X to close the message.

Select one or more links and then Add links. The button shows the number of links you selected. You might need to scroll down to see the button.
You'll see the links you just added. You can drag and drop your assignments into an existing folder or create a new one by selecting Add Folder from the Add Materials menu.
