Explore additional resources

Include teaching resources appropriate for your course's textbook, such as presentations, images, and animations, instructor manuals or guides, and editable and printable quiz or test bank questions. Click the Instructor Resources from the course menu to open in a new window or tab.

Some Instructor Resources offerings are available through a hierarchy on the left in the new window. For chapter-specific resources, you may need to select a chapter from a drop-down list at the top of the page.

Instructor Resource Center (IRC)

If you don't see the Instructor Resources option, or if you would like to check for more resources, you might want to visit the Instructor Resource Center (IRC), which is outside of Mastering. For authorized users, the IRC provides access to resources for all disciplines, and is not limited to the textbook for your course.

Note: Section instructors who do not have a Pearson Educator account don't have automatic access to the IRC, but they can request IRC access. Your institution is contacted to approve this request. This option might be appropriate for an adjunct for whom your institution prefers not to grant a full Pearson Educator account.

The Pearson eText is a study resource that lets you and your students work with an online version of the course's textbook. In particular, the eText provides a flexible reading and studying option for students.

Availability

• Students can access the eText if their access code permits; if not, they can purchase eText access.
• Students who have access can open the eText as soon as they register, even before they join (enroll in) your course.
• If you don't see an eText option from the Course Home, then this feature isn't available for the course's textbook.

Features

• Open and easily navigate in the eText, whether you want to search for information, a particular print page, or go back to a recently visited page.

• You and your students can personalize your individual view of the eText by adding bookmarks, highlights, and notes. Instructors can also share their notes with students in the course and customize the table of contents for the course. How to work with eText features
• The Pearson eText app allows students to read and study—even without WiFi.

About eText access and Learning Catalytics

If you use Learning Catalytics with your Mastering course, each student's Pearson eText access also provides access to Learning Catalytics sessions and question review, without an additional purchase. A student who hasn't purchased your course's eText can still purchase Learning Catalytics access at a nominal cost.

Independent study resource that offers students self-paced learning through features such as key concepts, animations, videos, and glossaries. Students can repeat these activities as often as they like.

• When available for your course, select Study Area from the course menu. Students can access the Study Area as soon as they register for Mastering, even before they join (enroll in) your course.
• Work that students do in the Study Area is not reported to the Mastering Gradebook, but some Study Area activities can also be assigned for credit. To assign these activities so grades get posted to the Mastering Gradebook, filter by selecting the Activity check box when you add items to an assignment.

• For some Mastering Astronomy textbooks, self-guided tutorials are available for independent study. You can also assign these tutorials so that grades get posted to the Gradebook.
