Create or edit questions

The Custom Question Builder lets you create short answer, multiple choice, true/false, and essay questions to use in assignments.
- Open the Manage Assignments page.
- In the list of tasks, select Custom Question under Create or select Manage Custom Questions under Organize.

You can edit the text and some values in the questions that come with your online course. To edit a question you must copy of the question in the Custom Question Builder and then edit your copy.
Open the question in preview-and-add mode and select Copy and Edit to open the question in the Custom Question Builder.
When you edit a question, the question help (videos, animations, and so on) is no longer available.

For questions delivered in the player, you can add tips for students.
Open the question in preview-and-add mode and select Add Instructor Tip from the Get More Help menu in the player.
Your tip does not appear when you view the player in preview mode, but it will pop up when students open the question and will be available in the question help.

You can copy a preloaded Writing Skills assignment to add your own prompt.
- Open the Manage Assignments page for the Writing Skills content area.
- Under Customize in the list of tasks, select View and Manage All Assignments.
- Select Homework and optionally filter by modules and topics.
- Scroll down to the Sample Homework table.
- From the Actions list for an assignment, select Copy.
- Enter question information in step 1 of the assignment wizard.
- In step 2, under Question Source, select Add my own prompt.
