Do and review homework in the player

When you work on a homework or Extra Practice activity in the player, you usually have more than one chance to answer a question correctly. Depending on the assignment, you may also have access to Skill Builder and Question Help to get assistance with answering a question

You don't need to finish an activity in one session. You can save the answers to the questions you've completed, exit the activity, and come back later to finish it. You do, however, have to finish all questions before you can submit the activity to your instructor for credit.

When you're working on a homework activity in the player, it will time out after a set period of inactivity. See Inactivity time-out on homework for details.

The assignment opens in the player, and you can use the navigation bar's drop-down arrow to display the assignment's overview. You can select a question's link in the overview to go to that question, and you can print the overview.

The upper half of the overview displays the date and time the assignment is Due, if applicable. It also shows the date and time you Last Worked on the assignment, and the number of Attempts allowed to answer a question.

The overview also shows the total number of Questions, how many have been Scored, the number that are Correct, the number for which you received Partial Credit, and the number that are Incorrect.

The questions that you have completed have one of the following icons to the left of the question link.

  • Correct indicates that you answered correctly.
  • Incorrect indicates that you answered incorrectly.
  • Partial credit indicates that the answer is at least partially correct. Some part might be incorrect or your instructor might need to grade it.

The numbers in parentheses to the right of a question link are the number of points you have earned and the maximum number of points you can get for that question. So (0/1) means you have not completed the question and its maximum number of points is 1. When you complete the question correctly, it will display (1/1).

For details on printing the overview, just the question you're working on, or all the activity's questions, see Get help on a question.
