Create a skill-building assignment

A skill-building assignment assesses students' skills in specific topic areas, and you select the exercise sets that you want. (The exercise sets for skill-building assignments are unique and are available to students only through a skill-building assignment.)

As a student works through a typical skill-building exercise set, the MyLab displays feedback for each question as the student completes it. The feedback lets the student know whether his or her answer is correct or incorrect and which answer is the correct one. The MyLab then automatically scores the assignment and records the score in the gradebook's Student Results Summary.

Other skill-building questions require that students write a response that you need to manually grade for each student. After you score the written responses, the MyLab calculates the assignment score and records it in the gradebook. However, you can exclude exercises with written responses from the assignment. To do this, make sure not to select any exercises flagged with an asterisk (*).
