Step 5: Copy assignments
When creating a prebuilt course or copying or linking to a course, you use this page to copy assignments and/or instructor-required Resources from the original course into the new course. The copied assignments are fully customizable, and you can create more assignments in the new course. Similarly, when copying a course, you can remove any copied Resources from the required state as well as require other topics and assets in the new course.
- For copying assignments, the Step 5 page lists the types of assignments available in the original course. When you select an assignment type, the Course Builder copies all assignments of that type into the new course. For example, if you select to copy composition assignments, the Course Builder copies all the original course's composition assignments into the new course.
- For required Resources, the Course Builder copies all instructor-required topics and assets from the original course into the new course. (This applies only to copied courses. In linked courses, the Resources assets are linked to the original course.)

Assignment Types
Select All Assignments or select only the assignment types you want.
Use Original Assignment Dates and Times Keep this set to No if you plan to set your own start and due dates/times for the copied assignments. Otherwise, select Yes to keep the same dates and times as in the original course. This option is applicable when you are copying or linking to a course, not when you are creating a prebuilt course.
Copy Required Resources Select Yes to copy all required Resources from the original course into your new course. Select No to not copy the required Resources.
Use Original Due Dates and Times Keep this set to No if you plan to set your own due dates and times for the required topics and assets you are copying. Otherwise, select Yes to keep the same dates as in the original course. However, the original due dates must fall within your new course's start and end dates. If they do not, the MyLab copies the required Resources into the new course without due dates. This option is applicable when you are copying a course, not when you are linking to or creating a prebuilt course.
