Work Through Write Exercises

A writing topic's Write exercise is an exchange of drafts between you and the instructor:

  1. You write a draft and submit it to the instructor.
  2. The instructor reviews the draft, provides feedback and comments, and may assign a temporary grade.
  3. You review the comments, revise the draft, and submit it again.
  4. This cycle continues until either the instructor gives you a final grade or you exhaust the maximum number of drafts allowed. (The instructor sets the maximum number of drafts allowed when setting up the course.)

To work through a Write exercise:

  1. Display the writing topic.
  2. Click the Write Exercise link or its Begin button.
  3. Select a question or statement as the subject of the exercise.
  4. Enter your draft in the text box.

As you work on a draft, note the following:

  5. Click the Save and Submit button to submit the draft to the instructor.

Once you submit the draft, you cannot modify it until the instructor has reviewed and graded the draft and sent it back to you.

When you submit a draft, the MyLab displays the Submitted link for the Write exercise activity. Clicking this link displays the submitted draft, but you cannot revise it.

Tip: In the Study Plan, the submitted icon Submitted indicates a draft that you have submitted to the instructor.

After the instructor reviews, grades, and sends the draft back to you, the MyLab displays the Rewrite button on the topic page.

  6. Click the Rewrite button to review the comments and revise your draft.

In the Study Plan, the reviewed icon Reviewed Draft indicates that the instructor has submitted review comments and a grade.

When the MyLab displays Complete instead of a button or link for the Write exercise, the exercise is finished.

  7. Click the score to review the draft history and view the instructor's comments.
