Get Started

Use these steps to get started quickly with your MyLab.

1. Complete the diagnostic tests.

   When you enter the course:

   • If you see the Diagnostic Required window with one or more links to diagnostic tests, the diagnostic tests are required. See Overview: Diagnostic Evaluations for more information.

     Pearson recommends that all students first work through the diagnostic pre-tests, even when they are not required. These tests provide a baseline showing where you started at the beginning of the course and allow the MyLab to select appropriate exercises based on your pre-test scores.

   • If you see the Home page, either you have completed the diagnostic tests or these tests are not required. To get started on your diagnostic tests, see Take a Diagnostic Test on Your Own.
2. View the Study Plan. This is where you will spend most of your time.
3. Start working through Writing Skills topics.
4. Create and submit Writing Practice exercises (if available) for immediate, automated feedback.
5. Review the Gradebook reports to see your grades. You can view the Gradebook reports at any point in your work.
