Join Another Course
If you are working on your own or decide to switch courses, you can join a different course from within the MyLab. (You do not need a new access code to join another course for the same MyLab.)
When you switch courses, the new course replaces the old one. The course that you switch to must be the same version as your current course. That is:
- If you are in an eText course, you can switch to another course that uses the same eText.
- Or, if you are in a course that is based on a textbook, you can switch to another course that uses the same textbook.
- Or, if you are in a generic course, you can switch to another generic course.
Tip: Click this link to view a video on joining another course.
To join another course:
- Click the Settings link
at the top of the course window.
The Settings page is displayed.
- Click the Join a Different Course link.
The Choose How You'll Work screen is displayed.
- Select one of the following:
- Join Your Instructor's
Course: Select this option to join a MyLab course set up by
your instructor. When you join a course, your grades are tracked and the
instructor can monitor your progress. You will also need to take any diagnostic
pre-tests required by the instructor. In order to join an instructor's course, you must have the Course ID. You get the Course ID from the instructor.
- Work
on Your Own: If you choose Work on Your Own, you need to select the generic course, text, or eText that matches your access code. It is a good idea to have the text or access code card handy to ensure you choose the correct course.
Tip: Not sure which one
to select? Exit out of the program and ask your instructor.
Depending on your selection, the MyLab displays
either the Find Your Course screen or the Work on Your Own: Select Your
Product screen.
-
See Find Your Course
or Work on Your Own: Select
Your Product for information on selecting a course or product.
The MyLab next displays the Congratulations screen, welcoming you
to the course.
- Make sure that the course or product information
is correct. If it is not, click the here link at the bottom
of the window to go back to step 4 and find the correct course or product.
- Click the Click Here to Start Working button
to start working in the new course.
When you join a course, what you see depends on whether
the instructor is requiring that you complete the diagnostic pre-tests.
