With a hotspot multiple choice question, you select a graphic and define "hotspots" that students must locate in order to answer the question correctly. Students will only be able to select one hotspot as
their answer choice.
When creating or editing your question, you can switch
among sections at any time. However, you may need to complete one section
prior to opening another. If this is the case, a message appears directing you to enter the required information. You can click a section or subsection's bar to expand or collapse it.
The course saves your input as you enter it. To preview
your question at any time, click Preview.
Tip: To view
an example of the question type, click Sample Question.
Important: You must have the appropriate Java browser applet (see System requirements) in order for the hot spot- multiple question type to work correctly in your course.
Get started
To create hotspot-multiple choice questions:
As you add an activity or while you are editing it, click
Add Questions > Create New Question on the Questions page.

From the Today's View or any other page within a course,
click Course Materials > Manage Question Bank and then click Add
Course Materials.
Notes
Although you can add activities to the Course Materials Library or My Course list, it is strongly recommended that you create all activities in the Course Materials Library and then move them to the My Course list where you can set appropriate scheduling.
If you do add an activity directly to the My Course list, you will be prompted to save the new activity to the Course Materials Library. In this case, navigate to and select the Course Materials Library folder where you want to save the activity and then click Add and Close.
Another option for creating course materials is to use Course Materials Wizard. To access the wizard, select Course Materials from the menu bar. This wizard lets you add assignments by taking you to the Course Materials Library, copy materials from another course using the Course Materials Library, and manage your content library. Refer to Using the Course Materials Wizard for more information.
Click Hot Spot-Multiple Choice.

In the Edit
Question subsection, enter a Question
title of up to 100 characters to identify the
question in the Question Bank.
In the Select Content window, select your graphic from the Course Materials Library or you can View Contents by Learning Objective, if enabled, to only select items associated to learning objectives. The image dimensions should not exceed 357x287 pixels, and the file may not exceed 10240 kilobytes.
To select a color for the hotspot marker, click the color icon , select a color, and click OK.
Select either Circle or Square as the hotspot marker shape.

Add or edit hotspots
To select hotspot markers:
Click the Add Hotspot subsection.
To define each required hotspot, click the required location on the background graphic. The numbered hotspot appears on the graphic.
Note: Students can select only one hotspot as their answer choice. In the Answer section, you can define hotspots as correct, partially correct, or incorrect answers.
Add or edit answers
To define the score and any feedback:
Click the Add Answer subsection.
Enter the Score for selecting a given hotspot. You can assign full, partial, or no credit to an individual hotspot.
Enter a feedback message you want students to see after submitting their answer. To format the feedback, click the Edit button to open the content editor.
On the
Questions page, you can use the question's
options menu to edit, delete, or try out the question. If you have access to the Course Materials > Manage Question Bank page in the course, you have access to additional question options, such as Preferences and Tryout.
Edit saved questions
To edit questions you have already saved:
When creating or editing an activity,
select
Edit from the question's options
menu on the Questions page.

click Course Materials > Manage Question Bank and select Edit from the question's options menu.
