Create and edit study plans
Updated 19 Feb 2024
In MyLab IT, when your course design includes study plans activities, you can track student progress in mastering subject material in the course. You can follow student progress from pre-test scores in the study plan to post-test scores, where students demonstrate full mastery of the material.
You can also use student outcomes on pre-tests and post-tests to determine whether students need additional help if they appear to be struggling.
Study plans offer students multiple opportunities to fully master their required subjects:
- Students can assess their initial mastery of subject matter through the pre-test.
- Students can advance their subject matter understanding and mastery through the delivery of personalized study materials that reflect their pre-test performance results.
- Students can use the post-test to assess their mastery following the use of study materials.
Similarly, you can use study plans to identify knowledge and learning gaps in your student population, which you can then address with further instructional attention as needed.
Within a course, you can use the course Preferences > Study Plan page to determine study plan presentation options and preferences.
Depending on your course design, the study plan activities named "pre-test" and "post-test" may have different names in your course. You can also change the activities' names on the course Preferences > Study Plan page. Regardless of the activity name, however, the pre-tests and post-tests function as described in this Help.
To get started using study plans, see:
- Add and edit study plans
- Add and edit Sequential Assignment Module
- Create or select pre-tests
- Create or select post-tests
- Select and add training materials
- Set preferences for study plan components
- Reset study plan pre-tests
Editing a Pearson-provided study plan is strongly discouraged. The components of the study plan (pre-test, study materials, and post-test) are intricately tied together so editing any of them may disrupt these connections.
