Assign Team Mini Sims
Team Mini Sims are an in-class activity and students need a Wi-Fi enabled device to participate. Mobile phones are not recommended for these assignments.
Assign Team Mini Sims
- Open the Assignment Manager and find the Mini Sim assignment.
- Use the 3-dot Options menu to select Additional settings.
- On the Additional settings page, select the Mini Sim assignment.
- Choose your settings:
- Max number of students in teams: optimally choose 3, 5, or 7. Odd numbers decrease the chance for ties at a decision point.
- Polling results in scenarios with decisions: choose how students see the percentage of team members who chose each decision at a decision point.
- Optionally set a Time limit to make decisions.
- Student's grade calculation: choose how to score individual students. The score is a weighted average between the team score and the individual score (when the student makes a different decision than the team).
- Use Team Progress to see how your teams are working.
How students do Team Mini Sims
- One student from each team selects Create Team and names the team.
- Other team members locate their team name and select Submit to join. Students can begin after all the team members join.
A student can change teams by selecting Edit Team.
- Students work together to do the simulation.
- When students reach a decision point, they make a group decision, but each student submits their own decision.
The percentage of the team that selected each decision appears if you allowed it.
If the team doesn't arrive at a majority decision, they must retry until a majority is reached.
- After students complete the assignment, they see their results and feedback on both their individual decisions and the team decisions.
