Study Plans
If available in your course, the Study Plan helps students practice and test their mastery. You can assign a companion Study Plan as a prerequisite for a test or quiz.
Students' Study Plan results are reported in your Gradebook but do not affect their overall scores unless you change how scores are weighted. You can review student Study Plan work on their Results page.
To customize the Study Plan:
- Select Study Plan Manager from the left menu.
- Select Edit for the settings you want to customize.
- On the Mastery tab page, select assignment types used to assess mastery.
To prevent Study Plan work from evaluating mastery, clear all assignment types.
- Enter a score required to prove mastery for each selected assignment type.
For tests and quizzes, 80% is recommended.
Assignment type and score settings also affect personalized homework.
- Optionally select Hide Quiz Me to remove this requirement. (See How students use the Study Plan for details on Quiz Me.)
- If you require Quiz Me, optionally set the number of questions.
If your course includes question metrics, select how many questions are offered at each difficulty level.
If you change the number of questions after students have taken Quiz Me quizzes, your updates apply only to content not yet included in Quiz Me quizzes.
- On the Access tab page, choose the features available when students access the Study Plan.
- Select whether to show or hide the Study Plan to students.
- If you show the Study Plan, select when students see their Study Plans.
- Select whether to show or hide recommendations.
When you hide recommendations, students see only the All Chapters view.
- On the Coverage and Scoring tab, select the plus icon for a section or objective to see its subsections and individual questions.
Select a section name to choose which questions students see.
Select a question number to preview it.
- In the Objectives scored and recommended column, clear the objective, section, or question to remove it from recommendations and scoring calculations. Students can still see and work the material.
- In the Questions available for practice column, clear the objective, section, or question to remove it entirely. Students no longer see the material.
The Assignment Usage column of the table shows the types of assignments that include the material.
Chapters, sections, or objectives without publisher-provided questions are automatically hidden.
- On the Coverage and Scoring tab, select a section name to open the Study Plan Details page.
Choose the chapter, section, or objective (if applicable) to view.
- From the Select list, optionally choose to show questions used or not used in assignments or reduce the number of questions by displaying only every nth question. You can:
- Hover over a question number to see its description.
- Select a question number to preview it in the player.
- Clear a question number to hide it.
If you exclude all questions from a chapter, section, or objective, mastery icons remain for that material, but the number of available questions is 0.
Select the page students see when they access the Study Plan:
- Study Plan Recommendations brings students to the Recommendations view, which lists recommended objectives or sections and guides students through practice and Quiz Me quizzes to prove mastery. This page is useful when you assign Study Plan prerequisites.
- Study Plan Progress brings students to the Progress view, with a graphical view of their progress and recommended work.
If you hid the Recommendations page in the Access settings, students do not see either of these recommendations pages and must practice from the All Chapters view.
