Place students
After you use tests to evaluate student readiness for one or more courses, you can automatically or manually place them into appropriate courses.
- In the Test Manager, create the tests that you want to use to assess readiness for a course.
Create a test group to present a sequence of tests that increasing difficulty and set scores required to advance to the next test. You can place students automatically based on their performance in the test group.
In MyMathTest, you can create adaptive tests that assesses students' prerequisite knowledge for the courses that you associate with the test and manually place them.
- In your Gradebook, select More Tools > Manage Course Recommendations.
- Select Add Course Recommendation.
- In the Name box, enter the name of a course.
- Select Add Test.
- Select a test from the list.
- Enter the score that students must achieve to qualify for the course.
Select a single score or a score range. From the dropdown lists, select the operators (> for greater than, ≥ for greater than or equal to, etc.).
- Select Add Test when you have made your choices.
If you select more than one test, students must meet the requirements on all tests to qualify for the course.
- Optionally select Add alternative test requirements to choose one or more other tests that students can take to qualify for the course.
When you add alternate tests, an OR table appears. Students must pass all the tests in any one of the tables to qualify for the course.
- Choose how to recommend the course:
- Automatic course recommendation automatically assigns the appropriate course to students based on their test results. If you want to email the placement, select Email Course Recommendation Template to customize the email message.
- Uncheck Automatic course recommendation to place students manually. See Manually place students.
Only manual recommendations are available for adaptive math tests.
- Choose whether to display their placements on student Results pages.
- Select Add Course Recommendation when you have finished.
