Publish a Collection as a Book
When you create and publish a print Collection, you create a book that students can purchase for your course. The content in your Collection determines many aspects of the book including:
- Whether the book is printed 1-color or 4-color
- The available binding and page sizes for the book
- Whether any print options, such as perforated or three-hole punched pages, are available.
The standard parts of a book, such as the cover, title page, copyright page, index, and table of contents, are automatically included based on the book's content and your selections during the print publishing process. Except for the cover text, module titles, and the resources you've uploaded, you can't edit other parts of the book.
Renaming a module title changes it in your Collection and in the printed book.
Other parts of a book, such as the following items, are not included by default.
- Acknowledgments
- Preface
- Foreword
- Introduction
- Glossary
- Appendixes
- Bibliography
However, you can include any of these sections in your book by you providing content for it and then uploading each section as an individual resource.
Your book can contain up to 1200 pages in a single volume and must have at least 100 pages. If you require more pages, a Pearson project specialist will contact you to discuss where to divide the material into two parts. Likewise, if you cannot find enough content to fill 100 pages, a project specialist can help you.
An ISBN for your book is assigned after you submit it for publishing. If you are bundling your book with other material you will receive two ISBNs: one for the book and one for the bundle, which includes your custom book plus any other materials you've selected. Use the Bundle ISBN to order your book with the bundled material; use the Book ISBN to order your custom book only.
At the end of the publishing process, you can order desk or evaluation copies of your book. These copies are free and are yours to keep.
Desk copy — a complimentary copy of your book for your personal use. You receive a desk copy after your bookstore orders your book and receives the order.
Evaluation copy — a copy of your book given to one or more people to evaluate its appropriateness for a specific course. The evaluation copy ships once you approve the book for printing. If you decide to use it, your bookstore can order copies of your book for your course.
